It has been A WEEK. I think I need a nap and a week’s vacation in Key West, but since that can’t happen, lets drink a bourbon cider smash!
Remember the orange & spice infused bourbon I made a few weeks ago? Welp, it’s ready! It made its debut here, mixed with local apple cider and a splash of local apple spice kombucha for a little fizz. These are so good, guys.
Are you guys into kombucha? It’s a fantastic little drink made of fermented tea and has TONS of health benefits, like: healthy gut support, probiotics, helps to manage diabetes, and maintains a healthy liver. And since we are mixing in a lil’ bit of alcohol here, probably a good idea to throw in a splash of that liver protecting kombucha too. I used Wild Kombucha, a local Baltimore band that I am currently obsessed with! BUT if kombucha isn’t your thing, no worries. You could totally use ginger beer instead.
These drinks are the perfect fire side fall beverage. They aren’t too sweet thanks to the tang of the kombucha (or ginger beer, if thats your thang!) and the spice of the bourbon adds a zip that makes these the perfectly balanced beverage. I’ve been drinking these cold, but there is not reason why you couldn’t heat them up and drink them warm on a chilly night!
What are you guys doing this weekend? It’s going to be beautiful here. We are celebrating a friends birthday, and then doing a whole lot of nothing aka my favorite weekend activity.
I hope your weekend is full of relaxing and maybe a bourbon cider smash or two.
- 3 oz infused bourbon or the bourbon of your choice
- 4 oz kombucha (I used Wild Kombucha, apple spice flavor) OR ginger beer
- 2 oz apple cider
- oranges or apple slices to garnish
- Double or triple for a bunch of drinks!
- Mix together all of your drink ingredients and serve.
- Garnish with apple, oranges and/or cinnamon sticks.
