This morning I woke up with a food hangover. You know when you spend an entire weekend seeing friends, going to shindigs, eating delicious foods, drinking wine, or if you are me, spiked apple cider and then you wake up on Monday and you feel like a bag of garbage? Well that was me this morning, and then I made this smoothie and after it, I was on my way to feeling better and getting back on track.
I know the color doesn’t scream I’M DELISH! But I assure you, it is! You can really mix and match whatever you want to put into this smoothie. I always start out with a base of almond milk, ice, water, banana and spinach and from there I add whatever I am feeling that week. Sometimes I add Greek yogurt or peanut butter for extra protein. Other times I add a mix of fruits like berries, mangoes or even beets! Usually the fruit makes it sweet enough but if you are still weary of drinking spinach juice, I hear ya, you could totally add a dash of honey or agave syrup to cover up any spinach taste if that really isn’t your thing.
For me, I like to have this smoothie for breakfast or lunch during the week. While I love to indulge on the weekends, I have to make sure I get back on the healthy eating wagon come Monday. This smoothie helps me do that.
