Honesty is the best policy, right? So with that sentiment in mind, I have to say- I would kill for an avocado right now. BUT, aside from that non-farmers market approved craving, this has been a really fun food adventure so far. Trying out new local products and business’ has been a treat and eating a diet lower in carbs hasn’t been bad either. Physically, I feel like I have more energy and mentally, I feel really good that I am slowly becoming a farmers market regular and supporting local business owners and farmers.
I really miss the convenience of store bought condiments and pre-washed greens (I know, that’s lazy, but it’s the truth!) The challenge has made me realize how little is really needed to make a good meal, and how keeping it simple can really produce some of the best meals, especially if the grill is involved. Here’s a peek at this past weekend. It included hot sauce recipe testing, ice cream making (more on that tomorrow) and vegetable grilling. I hope you had a great one!
A lazy summer night and local Maryland beers.
Happy strawberry plants in the backyard!
Fresh cream, ice cream base. So delicious, I didn’t even miss the vanilla. Recipe coming soon!
Hot sauce recipe testing. Not for the faint of heart.
Farmer’s market dinner outside! I want to eat outside as much as possible this summer.
The most delicious grilled veggies!
Weekly meal-prep around the fire.
Hope your week is off to a great start!
